Non nobis solum — continued

The house is an archetypal symbol, and has a strong interconnection with the self. In the same way that the structure of a building has exterior and interior spaces, the self is also both public and private. Because the house is an enclosed and protected space, it is often associated with the womb, and therefore is more closely aligned with the feminine.

The materiality of glass is a metaphor for life’s contrasts and contradictions.

Glass is fragile but also resilient in its strength. It provides a protective barrier, but it also acts as a window or opening.

When light is directed onto the glass house, it performs by casting a shadow of the ancient text that reminds us to consider the other.
